Thinking about a family vacation to the North-East part of the United States? Then you’ve come to the right place! These are five of the most kid-friendly stops in New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

If you’re looking for a kid-friendly stop in the western part of New York, then Rochester has just the place! The name “The Strong National Museum of Play” speaks for itself. This museum, also known as Strong Museum, boasts a ridiculous 282,000 square feet of exhibits, artifacts, and interactive worlds. You and your kids will get lost in the wonder of this highly interactive museum. Some of the key collections include the National Toy Hall of Fame, The World Video Game Hall of Fame, Discovery Garden, and several other fun and informative exhibits. The best part is, if you and your family get tired from the full day of play, you can find an affordable hotel within walking distance of the museum.
The Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA
Family trips are just as much about learning and development as they are about having fun. That’s why I recommend taking the family to the Carnegie Science Center next time you are visiting Pittsburgh. This is one of four Carnegie Museums in Pittsburgh and has exhibits, live shows, and a planetarium. Not only will you and your kids have a lot of fun, but you’ll also learn a few new things. The Carnegie Science Center overlooks all three of Pittsburgh’s rivers (Ohio, Allegheny, Monongahela) and is less than 2 miles away from one of many family-friendly hotels, such as the Wyndham Grand Downton.
Coney Island in Brooklyn, NY

Coney Island is one of the most famous landmarks in Brooklyn. It offers something for everyone in the family. If you want thrills and adventure, then you have two amusement parks with rides like the Wonder Wheel, the Parachute Jump and the Cyclone roller coaster. If you are looking for leisure, there is a beautiful beach to relax on. Coney Island is a must-see spot in Brooklyn for your family and just a few minutes from several of Brooklyn’s finest hotels.
America on Wheels Museum in Allentown, PA
Allentown is the third largest city in Pennsylvania and is a beautiful place to take the family. If you do stay in Allentown, and are looking for a way to kill a few hours with the family, then check out the America on Wheels Museum. This museum is dedicated to all things wheeled! It has exotic sports cars, historic models, firetrucks, and even bicycles. You and the kids will have a blast exploring America on Wheels.
Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI

The Boston Globe calls it “the finest zoo in New England.” This 40-acre park is one of the oldest zoos in the country (opened in 1872) and has over 100 rare and exotic species of animals from every corner of the globe. If you do plan to stay in Providence, you have to take your family to the Rogers Williams Park Zoo. From Elephants and Kangaroos to exploration and adventure areas, there is literally hours of entertainment for you and your family. Keep in mind that you likely won’t be able to see everything in one day, so you should consider staying overnight at a local hotel, like Providence Biltmore.
