Summer is right around the corner and many people are looking to start planning their next adventure. California is one of the top states on most people’s list. From the beaches of Pasadena to the stadium seating in O.co Coliseum, there are a number of fun, affordable activities for all kinds of travelers. Check out what these 5 Californian cities have to offer.
San Mateo, CA
Looking for a relaxing city with an excellent location in California? Then, consider spending a few days in San Mateo. It’s conveniently placed between San Francisco and Palo Alto, which is great for business travelers or vacationers looking to explore different areas of California. The bulk of activities in San Mateo’s city limits involve outdoor gardens (Japenese Tea Garden), board walks (Foster City), and recreational parks (Coyote Point Park). San Mateo is an excellent city to visit because of its premiere location and casual atmosphere.
Travelers looking to explore California’s main attractions will love staying in Ontario. The main benefit to staying in Ontario is that you can find an affordable hotel that provides easy access to some of California’s most popular tourist’s sites. For instance, Disneyland and Hollywood are about an hour away from Ontario hotels like the Azure Hotel & Suites.
Oakland is one of the most traveled cities in California and has recently won several awards and recognition for its attractiveness to tourists. There are several exciting options for people who enjoy culture, arts, cuisine, sports, and entertainment. If you’re looking for something to do, I’d recommend watching an Athletics’ game at O.co Coliseum. If a sport’s game isn’t your cup of tea, you can visit the Oracle Arena to watch a concert or tour the unique exhibits at the Oakland Museum. Some of the upcoming concerts are Maroon 5, Rihanna, and Adele. The best part of visiting Oakland is that you can find affordable hotels for a margin of the price that you’d find in San Francisco or Los Angeles.
Universal City, CA
Universal City is located within Los Angeles and is surrounded by Universal Studios. It’s an obvious choice for travelers that want to explore the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park, which has enchanting attractions like the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and action studio tours. While the kids and family will love exploring Universal Studios, the adults will love the nightlife on Universal CityWalk. One of my favorites is listening to dueling pianos at Howl at the Moon. You can find reasonable priced hotels as well, like the Sheraton Universal Hotel.
Pasadena is another popular California destination. Most people visit Pasadena for the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl college football game. These two events are definitely worth the trip, but there are also attractions worth visiting year-round. Pasadena is cultural paradise for budget travelers, there are over a dozen museums, endless restaurant options, countless art exhibits, and even a couple flea markets, all of which offer affordable activities for travelers.
